LESSON PACKAGES

Our private lessons are designed to give you personalized, hands on coaching while helping you build a clearer, more effective way to communicate with your dog.

Each lesson is approximately one hour and is tailored around your dog, your goals, your experience level, and what will realistically fit into your daily life. Rather than following a rigid, one size fits all curriculum, we adjust the training plan as your dog progresses and as new questions or challenges come up.

Owners are actively involved throughout the process. We demonstrate techniques, explain why they work, coach you through handling and timing, and make sure you understand how to continue the training between sessions. Each lesson builds on the one before it, with clear practice goals and continued troubleshooting along the way.

As skills develop, we gradually increase difficulty through duration, distance, distractions, new environments, and real world application. Follow up lessons can also be adjusted to focus on whatever you and your dog need most at that point, whether that means reinforcing foundations, addressing a specific behavior, improving reliability, or working through a new challenge.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are one on one lessons typically like?

We understand that the best training plan is one you can realistically maintain. Lessons are personalized not only to your dog, but also to your comfort level, lifestyle, schedule, and training preferences.

Our goal is to give you clear direction, practical options, and continued feedback so you leave each lesson knowing what to work on, how to work on it, and what progress should look like.

Whether you are starting with puppy foundations, working toward reliable obedience, troubleshooting difficult behaviors, or continuing advanced training, our lesson packages are built to help you and your dog progress together.

Do I need to know what package I want before my first lesson?

No. We can help you determine how much support makes sense based on your goals, your dog, and the type of training you would like to accomplish.

What usually happens during a lesson?

Lessons typically include a review of your dog’s progress, discussion of any questions or challenges, demonstration of new techniques, and hands on coaching while you practice with your dog. We finish by making sure you know what to work on before the next session.

Are lessons the same for every dog?

No. Lessons are personalized to the individual dog and owner. We adjust the pace, exercises, training methods, and priorities based on your dog’s temperament, learning style, progress, and your goals.

Will I be doing the training during the lesson?

Yes. Our goal is to teach both ends of the leash. We may demonstrate techniques first, but owners receive hands on coaching so they can confidently continue the training at home.

What should I practice between lessons?

We provide clear goals based on what was covered during your session. Practice is meant to be realistic and easy to incorporate into everyday routines rather than feeling like another full-time job.

How often should lessons be scheduled?

That depends on the dog, your goals, and how much time you have to practice between sessions. Some clients benefit from more frequent lessons in the beginning, while others need more time between appointments to work on new skills.

Can lessons focus on behavior problems instead of obedience?

Yes. Lessons can address reactivity, anxiety, fear, overarousal, poor impulse control, difficult household behaviors, and other concerns in addition to obedience.

However, behavior problems do not always improve by working directly on the behavior you can see. In many cases, the underlying issue may involve unclear communication, inconsistent structure, frustration, lack of confidence, poor engagement, or strain in the dog-owner relationship. Because of that, parts of your training plan may not always look like they are directly addressing the original problem.

We may first focus on building clearer communication, stronger foundations, better emotional regulation, improved engagement, or more predictable routines. These pieces often help address the underlying cause of the behavior rather than simply managing the symptom. We’ll explain what we’re working on and why, so you understand how each part of the plan connects back to your goals.

Do you use the same training methods with every client?

No. We offer versatility in training approaches and can discuss different methods and tools based on what is appropriate for the dog, what the owner is comfortable with, and what can realistically be maintained in their lifestyle.

Can lessons take place in different locations?

Yes, and they should! As training progresses, lessons may be structured around real world scenarios and distractions when appropriate. This can help dogs generalize their skills and build reliability in more challenging environments.

What happens after I finish my package?

You are not expected to suddenly be on your own. Additional follow up lessons can be scheduled whenever you need help refining skills, troubleshooting a new concern, or continuing toward more advanced goals.

What if my dog progresses faster or slower than expected?

That is completely normal. We do not expect every dog or every owner to progress on the same timeline. Lessons are adjusted based on the individual, and we focus on meeting useful training criteria rather than rushing through a predetermined schedule.
